For over 30 years, we’ve celebrated our community together at our annual lunar new year banquet. This year, the APIQWTC leadership committee (known as the “Big Circle Committee”) has chosen to pause, and make 2020 a gap year for the banquet. That’s right, no 2020 banquet. We wanted to let you, our beautiful, resilient community know that this decision was made with great care.
Thanks to all of you who have come back year after year to make this event a success. As a volunteer-run organization, we have been burning ourselves out to make the banquet happen annually and have not been able to attend to our critical internal infrastructure. So we the Big Circle Committee have decided to allow ourselves time to deeply strengthen our internal decision-making processes, explore what our mission as an organization is, and plan how we want to move forward sustainably. We hope that you will join us at some of our other, smaller events throughout the year that will be posted to our listserv. We’ve had many magical and epic moments at the banquet with you and anticipate hosting our next one in 2021.
