API Queer women's movement in the San Francisco Bay Area: Timeline	APIQWTC was formed in Feb of 1999 as a means of networking & communicating among Bay Area Asian & Pacific Islander queer women's and transgender people's organizations and constituencies. APIQWTC was formerly Asian Pacific Sisters (APS) and a part of Asian Pacific Lesbians and Bisexuals Network (APLBN), now APLBTN inclusive of Transgender Women. APIQWTC's Upcoming Events: Last updated at April 30, 2012 APIQWTC Wine Tasting Come celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a wine tasting! Cinco de Mayo Wine Tasting Party May 5, 2012, 2:30-4:30 pm Club Lounge at The Infinity 333 Main Street, San Francisco (directions below) Cost: $7 per person Some more detailed information and general pointers: 1) WINE We will taste some wine especially picked for the Cinco de Mayo theme. There may be grape varietals that you have not heard of before. 2) GETTING THERE The Infinity is the condo complex on Main Street between Folsom and Harrison. Enter the courtyard (landscape/trees) between 301 Main Street and 333 Main Street and take the stairs to the right to the Club Lounge. Look for the APIQWTC banner! The best way to get there is to let Muni/Bart be your designated driver! The venue is a short 8-minute walk from Embacadero Station and 2 blocks from Muni's Folsom St stop. You can also use buses that go to the temporary Transbay Terminal. 3) PARKING If you are driving, there are free 2-hour spots on Spear St, Main St and Beale St. Please note that Giants is playing at home that day with first pitch at 1:05pm, so parking in the area will be limited. Of course, if you plan on driving, we trust that you will drink responsibly. 4) FOOD There will be bread, cheese and other small snacks. If you plan on "drinking" and not "spitting," you may want to eat some protein beforehand. 5) DRESS CODE Just a note that wine being what it is and gravity being what it is, it's always smart to dress in dark colors: black skirt, brown slacks, burgundy top, etc. No one wants to go home looking like a Jackson Pollock painting! Please check their website for more info: www.napawf.org Asian Heritage Street Celebration -- By AsianWeek Saturday, May 19 Asian Art Museum San Francisco, CA The largest Pan Asian street fair nationwide - the 8th annual Asian Heritage Street Celebration will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012 in San Francisco, in front of the Asian Art Museum, leading up to the Little Saigon District. Popular features for people of all ages include the Arts and Crafts World Market - an extravaganza of special and unique hand-made products and artworks, wine area, children's area, a healthy living pavilion, free film screenings and more. Pre-Screening Receptions Followed by Q&A with Filmmakers QWOCMAP's 8th Anniversary Film Festival showcases world-premieres in numerous screening programs. Their free annual Film Festival blends art and activism with community building, and is decisively different from traditional film festivals. In June 2003, our first free screening drew standing-room-only crowds. In 2005, our packed annual screenings expanded into the 1st Annual Queer Women of Color Film Festival. San Francisco Dyke March 2012 Saturday, June 23 As our tradition, APIQWTC will be grouping ourselves at around 6pm on the steps of Mission High School on 18th and Delores Streets in San Francisco. Come and enjoy tens of thousands of other women as we take over the streets of San Francisco baring whatever it is we wish to bare (it is the Dyke March after all) Pride Parade 2012 Sunday, June 24 Global Equality Parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. at Market St. & Beale in Downtown San Francisco. The theme of 2012 SF Pride Parade is Global Equality. This 42nd Anniversary Libera contingent leading the parade off after Dykes on Bikes. We will be marching with the API contingent. This is our chance, as API LGBT folks and allies, to increase our visibility and show our communities that we support marriage equality. Please come and join us! APIQWTC recognizes and supports her efforts in producing groundbreaking creative work as a visual artist, writer, activist, and cultural producer. Through her work, Christine is a visionary leader in promoting API queer women and transgender voices and visibility. She is the creator and founder of The Visibility Project, a photography and video community-based project that brings together community members, organizations, activists, and artists. Currently, Christine is developing a science-fiction project involving cyborgs, theory, video, installation, absurdity, and chips. JAMIE SUMAGUE APIQWTC is proud to award Jamie Sumague a scholarship to pursue a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy at Columbia University. Jamie has been involved immensely in Columbia University's LGBT programming and advising on campus. With a rigorous academic schedule, Jamie is able to balance demanding academic expectations with LGBT programming efforts towards queer API advocacy. Jamie's efforts are to develop and nurture a culture of acceptance on and off campus. Programming efforts have included mentorship programs, discussion series, and mixers to aid in suicide prevention, combating institutionalized homophobia, increased mental health for the campus community.
