2019 Phoenix Award Call for Nominations
Each year the APIQWTC banquet in April honors an individual who has contributed significantly to the queer API women and trans communities. The Phoenix Award honors API queer women and trans folx who have made outstanding contributions of historical significance to the Asian Pacific Islander queer women and transgender community. The Phoenix symbolizes virtue, grace, integrity, and peace. The mythical bird additionally signifies divine beauty in its symbolic incorporation of opposing forces – yin and yang, male and female, conflict and happiness – to create harmony and balance. Awardees embody the qualities of the Phoenix, in their power and commitment to inspire faith and incite action towards justice. Submit your nomination for next year’s recipient of the Phoenix Award.
Nominations should be no more than one page single-spaced. Be sure to submit yours before November 19, 2018 at 11pm to firstname.lastname@example.org. The Phoenix Award Committee will be judging the nominations along the following three criteria.
